TAG Heuer has unveiled a new, limited edition version of its iconic Formula 1 Solargraph watch made especially for Dutch fans of the sport. The new model offers a striking orange colour, which is the national color of The Netherlands.
That’s paired with a gray dial – though it does appear more of a soft, baby blue hue in the images shared by the brand – which offers a neat bit of contrast with the vibrant orange. Those brighter tones are continued on the hands, indices and minute track, with slight variation in the shades.
All of that sits within a 38mm case crafted from sand-blasted stainless steel. That’s a great size and – in my experience with other models in the family – makes for a really wearable experience.
It’s also offered on either a matching steel bracelet, or an orange rubber strap. Personally, the rubber strap feels more appropriate to me, matching the styling of the classic models it was based on more closely.
Elsewhere, users will find 100m of water resistance, making this a capable piece for everyday use. There’s also a date complication nestled at the three o’clock position, which is nice to have.
The pieces are powered by the TH50-00 movement. That’s a solar-powered calibre, which is crafted in partnership with La Joux Perret. It’s an important point to note, as LJP is owned by Citizen, which is famous for its solar-powered movements.
The model is being unveiled at a pertinent moment for motor racing in the country, as this year will mark the final Grand Prix being held in Zandvoort. That’s been the home of Dutch Formula 1 racing since it returned in 2021, and has always been a fan favourite on the calendar.
The model on a rubber strap is limited to just 1,500 pieces, and costs $2,150 / £1,800. If you want to pick one up on a steel bracelet, there are only 1,000 pieces being made, priced at $2,250 / £1,900.
