Caterham is bringing the Miami Special Edition to Monterey Car Week, with just 12 examples being built worldwide.
Two of those cars are being shown at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and are available through Bonhams by private treaty. That means interested buyers can negotiate directly instead of waiting for the cars to go through a traditional auction.
The Miami Special Edition is based on the track-only Seven R and uses a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine producing 210bhp at 7,600rpm. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, with 0-60mph taking 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 136mph.
Its bright colour scheme is hard to miss. Each car is finished in bespoke Aqua paint with Vibrant Pink and White graphics, while Miami script and an outline of the Miami International Autodrome appear at the rear.

The theme carries into the cabin as well, with Miami lettering embroidered into the headrests. An individually numbered plaque sits on the dashboard, while another under the bonnet bears the signatures of the two people who hand-built the car.
Track-focused equipment includes dedicated suspension, a roll cage and a plumbed-in fire extinguisher system. There is also a suede Momo steering wheel and sequential shift lights.
Caterham revealed the Miami edition earlier this year, with only 12 cars planned in total. Ten were reserved for the company’s US dealer network, leaving the two Monterey examples as particularly rare chances to buy one.
The cars can be viewed at the Bonhams Laguna Seca Auction marquee through August 12, before the sale on August 13. With so few being made, the Miami Special Edition should be a difficult Seven to find once they are gone.
