Aston Martin has created three one-off DB12 S models for Monterey Car Week, each taking inspiration from the brand’s early racing history at Le Mans.
The trio comes from the Q bespoke division and celebrates the 75th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. In keeping with the occasion, each car pays tribute to one of three DB2 racers from the early 1950s.
Those original race cars were registered VMF 63, VMF 64 and VMF 65, with each one using a different grille colour. The new DB12 S versions pick up the same idea with Rosso Red, Speed Yellow and Ellwood Blue accents.
All three share a Carbon Black exterior, with those colours appearing on the grille vanes, carbon-fibre side strakes and rear Aeroblade. Number 75 roundels sit on the front wings, while a DB2-inspired graphic at the rear gives another nod to the original cars.
The colour theme carries into the cabin through contrast stitching, the start-stop controller and the tips of the gearshift paddles. Aston Martin has also added embroidered DB2 silhouettes to the front seats, along with bespoke sill plaques and more 75 details.
No mechanical changes have been made, so the three cars perform just like the regular DB12 S. Its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 700PS and 800Nm of torque. It can also reach 202mph, with carbon-ceramic brakes fitted as standard.
Aston Martin has more planned for Monterey beyond the DB12 S trio. The Vanquish 25 Special Edition will also be there, marking 25 years since the original V12 Vanquish debuted.
Visitors will also be able to see the Valhalla, Vantage S and DBX S, plus a historic DB2 that gives more context to the three modern tribute cars.
Aston Martin’s Monterey programme starts on August 12, with the one-off DB12 S models bringing a colourful piece of the brand’s racing past to Pebble Beach.
