One of the more popular Air Jordan 8 colorways from the 2000s is coming back, more than a decade after its last release.
The Air Jordan 8 “Chrome” returns on August 29 in its familiar Black and Light Graphite colour scheme. Nike’s SNKRS listing puts the adult pair at $215 in the US, with versions for kids also joining the release.
The Chrome first appeared in 2003, around 10 years after the Air Jordan 8 made its debut during Michael Jordan’s 1992-93 championship season. Unlike original colorways such as Aqua and Playoffs, this one arrived later as a retro release before returning again in 2015.

Part of what has made the Chrome so popular is its more understated look compared with many Jordans from the era. The latest version keeps the mostly black upper, then adds white, silver and grey accents along with the chrome details that give the colorway its name.
Plenty of classic AJ8 details remain, including the crossover straps, stretchy inner sleeve and signature Jumpman tongue patch. Nike Air cushioning sits in the heel and forefoot, keeping some of the technology that defined the original design.
The chunky proportions also leave little doubt that this is a sneaker born in the early 1990s. Nike itself describes the strapped-up silhouette and chenille tongue graphic as distinctly tied to that era, which is a big part of why the Air Jordan 8 still looks so recognisable today.

This will be Chrome’s second comeback after its 2015 retro, making 2026 its first retail appearance in more than 10 years.
The Air Jordan 8 “Chrome” lands through Nike SNKRS on August 29 for $215. For anyone who missed the last release, it is another chance to pick up a colourway that has spent most of the past decade off the shelves.
