Salomon’s XT-4 OG is getting a much calmer look, with soft blues, grays and cream replacing the brighter colours often seen on the trail-inspired sneaker.

The new finish is officially called Pearl Blue, Grisaille and Vanilla Ice, combining pale blue and gray across the upper with warmer off-white sections. Salomon lists it under product code L45473600, with the new design language giving the XT-4’s technical shape a noticeably softer feel.

It may now be firmly established as a lifestyle sneaker, but plenty of its original outdoor hardware remains. A tight anti-debris mesh covers much of the upper, helping keep dirt away from the foot, with more protective materials added around areas that would normally take the most abuse on the trail.

Salomon’s SensiFit system wraps the foot from the midsole up towards the laces for a closer fit. The Quicklace setup handles tightening with a single pull, keeping the shoe’s technical character even with the quieter colour palette.

Underneath, the XT-4 OG uses Salomon’s Agile Chassis Skeleton alongside an EnergyCell midsole to provide stability and cushioning. A rubber Contagrip outsole adds traction, keeping some genuine trail DNA beneath what has become one of Salomon’s most recognisable streetwear silhouettes.

The shoe weighs 358g per unit and has a 10mm drop, so the technical proportions remain unchanged despite the softer styling.

Hypebeast reports that the Pearl Blue version will launch in Japan on August 21 for ¥30,800. Salomon’s UK site also carries the XT-4 OG at a regular price of £175, though some colorways are currently discounted. For customers in the USA, expect to pay $200.

For anyone who likes the XT-4’s technical shape but wants something easier to wear every day, this muted version might be one of the more versatile options yet.
