TAG Heuer has unveiled a new limited edition watch in partnership with the Watches of Switzerland Group. That takes the already good-looking Carrera Day-Date model and gives it a beautiful blue dial color.

It’s a much paler shade than the standard blue offered on this model, almost erring into the territory of the iconic Tiffany Blue. That’s been a hugely popular shade on everything from Rolex Oyster Perpetual’s to $90 Casio’s in recent years, and should make this a hit.

That sumptuous ice blue dial sits within a 41mm stainless steel case, with silver-toned indices and hands – plus a black seconds hand – offering just enough contrast. Both the day and date indications sit side-by-side at the three o’clock position, with the TAG Heuer Carrera logo at 12 and the Automatic moniker at 6.

Inside, the brand’s TH31-02 calibre powers the watch, offering up to 80 hours of power reserve from a 4Hz beat rate. It’s also beautifully finished, with a branded, skeletonized rotor on the rear ensuring you can always get a good look at it.

The run is limited to just 250 pieces, and can be purchased exclusively through Watches of Switzerland Group brands. That includes Mayors, Goldsmiths and Mappin and Webb.

Personally, I’m a big fan of this design. I’ve always loved the Carrera series, which offers uncomplicated designs in everything from simple three-hand watches right through to its chronographs.

Adding in a particularly hot dial colour – and making it a limited edition offering – is certain to make this very hot property indeed. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it sell out quickly, and I’d even wager that there will be some secondary market shenanigans in the few weeks thereafter.

Still, for us watch lovers, it simply adds another fantastic option to the market for an everyday watch – and that’s no bad thing at all.
