Dr. Martens has joined forces with Japanese graphic designer VERDY for a new Wasted Youth take on the Penton Loafer. According to Hypebeast, the Dr. Martens x Wasted Youth Penton Loafer will be released on July 24 through Verdy’s Gift Shop and Dr. Martens. Pricing has not been confirmed yet, but the collaboration will arrive in three versions.

The collaboration keeps the Penton’s classic loafer shape, giving it a smarter foundation than a typical sneaker release. Each pair uses smooth black leather, preserving the recognisable Dr. Martens look while leaving room for Wasted Youth’s graphics and colour accents.

Most of the character comes from the embossed details worked into the upper. Wasted Youth’s “bowtie” motif repeats around the rear of the shoe, adding texture without overwhelming the Penton’s clean profile.

Pink, black and green accents distinguish the three versions. The brighter details bring a punk-inspired edge to the otherwise understated leather design, while the shared construction keeps the collection visually consistent across all three pairs.

Several established Dr. Martens features remain, including yellow welt stitching and the brand’s thick AirWair sole. Co-branded footbeds and additional Wasted Youth lettering continue the collaboration inside the shoe, where the graphics are less visible during everyday wear.

The Penton is a good fit for the project because its shape already balances traditional footwear with Dr. Martens’ subcultural roots. It looks sharper than a standard streetwear sneaker, but the chunky sole and yellow stitching stop it from becoming too formal.

VERDY’s graphics push that balance further without making the design unnecessarily busy. The three versions retain the clean structure of the Penton, but the embossed logos and coloured details give them enough personality to stand apart from Dr. Martens’ regular range.
