Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen has become a major destination for food and drink, with two Michelin-starred restaurants and one of Asia’s highest-ranked bars all under the same roof.

The Bay by Chef Fei picked up two stars in the inaugural Michelin Guide Guangzhou & Shenzhen 2026, while OPUS 388 earned one. MO Bar has also climbed to No. 5 on the 2026 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, making it the highest-ranked hotel bar in Asia.

At The Bay by Chef Fei, the focus is on Chaozhou and Cantonese cooking led by Master Chef Fei, also known as Huang Jing Hui, alongside Chinese Executive Chef Water Tang. The two-star rating is the hotel’s highest Michelin recognition and adds another major accolade to Chef Fei’s career.

OPUS 388 heads in a completely different direction. Set on the 77th floor, it serves contemporary French cuisine under Chef de Cuisine Alessio Durante, bringing together classical techniques, Mediterranean influences and ingredients sourced both locally and internationally.

Go up another two floors and dinner gives way to cocktails. MO Bar is located on the 79th floor, with huge windows and an outdoor terrace looking across Shenzhen. Its No. 5 ranking means guests can move from a Michelin-starred meal to one of Asia’s best bars without even leaving the building.

Tiger Chang leads the drinks programme, which takes plenty of inspiration from Chinese culture. The menus draw on regional references and storytelling, with ideas ranging from traditional pigments to other parts of the country’s heritage.

Food and drink may be a major draw, but the hotel has plenty else going on. It occupies the upper levels of the 388-metre Tower One at UpperHills and has 178 rooms and suites, along with a spa, fitness centre and indoor lap pool.

With three Michelin stars between two restaurants and one of Asia’s top bars only a few floors apart, Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen makes a pretty convincing case for staying in once you check in.
