Citizen has launched a new Spider-Man watch that brings Marvel artwork to its light-powered Eco-Drive range. The Spider-Man Swings model features custom dial art by comic-book artist Adam Kubert.
Spider-Man appears in an embossed design as he swings above the New York City skyline. Fully luminous webbing stretches across the dial with a three-dimensional effect, giving the artwork more depth when it glows in the dark.
Citizen has kept the rest of the design relatively dark to frame the detailed dial. A 43mm grey ion-plated stainless steel case is paired with a matching bracelet and fold-over clasp.
Power comes from Citizen’s J810 Eco-Drive movement, which runs using natural or artificial light. This removes the need for regular battery replacements and makes the watch easier to maintain over time.
Timekeeping remains simple despite the comic-book artwork. The watch has three central hands to read the hours, minutes and seconds, as well as a date display, while a mineral crystal protects the dial.
Water resistance is rated at 100 metres, making the watch suitable for swimming, showering and snorkelling. That gives it enough practicality for regular wear, despite the collector-focused theme.
Spider-Man references continue on the caseback, where “THWIP” is engraved as a nod to the sound of his web-shooters. Citizen also includes a collectible pin with the watch.
Priced at $525, the limited-edition Spider-Man Swings Eco-Drive is available through Citizen’s US website. Current orders may arrive as early as July 24, although delivery timing will depend on processing and location.
The detailed dial makes this more distinctive than a standard watch with a superhero logo added to it. Buyers are still getting a practical Eco-Drive model, but the Kubert artwork is clearly the main reason to choose this version.
