Vans has teamed up with Harris Tweed for a more tailored take on the classic Old Skool. The collaboration is expected to arrive in fall 2026, with pricing still to be confirmed.
The shoe replaces the Old Skool’s usual canvas upper with authentic handwoven Harris Tweed. Its blue-toned plaid pattern includes hints of lilac, green and brown, giving the skate silhouette the look of vintage tailoring.
The woven material gives the shoe a very different feel from the canvas and suede usually associated with the Old Skool. Its muted colours also keep the plaid from looking too formal or overpowering.
Deep navy leather overlays frame the upper around the toe, eyestay and heel. These darker panels add contrast and give the detailed fabric a cleaner outline.
More decorative elements appear on the Sidestripe, which has been reworked in black fabric and covered with multicoloured crystals. Chrome spikes, stones and pins add a jewellery-like finish that pushes the design further away from a standard Old Skool.
The added hardware gives the sneaker a more customised look and brings a rougher edge to the design. It also creates a sharp contrast with the traditional British textile used across the upper.
Vans has given the sole a deliberately worn appearance as well. Pre-distressed scuffs and marks make the sneaker look aged from the start, complementing the heritage fabric and decorative details.
Harris Tweed certification appears on the tongue and collar, confirming the material without taking over the design. The remaining branding is relatively restrained, leaving the woven upper and embellished Sidestripe as the main focus.
For buyers, the main question now is how much Vans will charge for the premium fabric and decorative finish. More details on availability are also expected closer to the fall 2026 release.
