Aston Martin has revealed one of its wildest concepts yet, although this V12-powered 4×4 is built for a virtual battlefield rather than a showroom floor. The Dreadnought was created exclusively for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and will also appear in Warzone. Although the vehicle is digital-only, a full-size display model was unveiled at Fanatics Fest in New York. Its name comes from the early 20th-century British warship, which suits the concept’s oversized, military-inspired design.
The Dreadnought measures just under five metres long and 2.1 metres wide, making it slightly smaller than a DBX by footprint. Even so, it looks far more aggressive, thanks to its lifted stance, huge JCB tyres, LED light bars, tow hooks and exterior grab handles.
The virtual powertrain uses the same 824bhp twin-turbo V12 found in the Aston Martin Vanquish. No performance figures have been released, but the Dakar-style suspension and enormous off-road tyres suggest the vehicle was imagined to carry serious speed across rough terrain.
Several details also connect the Dreadnought with Aston Martin’s production cars. Grille-mounted fog lights reference the original V8 Vantage, while the rear deck draws inspiration from the Valour. The brake lights take cues from the Valkyrie, and the quad-exit exhaust recalls the Valhalla.
The cabin moves away from the luxury usually associated with Aston Martin and focuses instead on its military gaming brief. A large display shows speed, direction, pitch and roll, alongside combat-related information designed for the game.
Physical switches control battlefield functions, while dedicated equipment storage and a rugged centre console replace the polished grand-touring atmosphere found in the brand’s road cars.
Aston Martin has not announced any production plans for the Dreadnought. Still, as a gaming concept, it shows how far the brand can push its design language when real-world rules are taken out of the way.
