Globe-Trotter has introduced The Restoration Edit, a new programme that brings old and pre-owned suitcases back into use. The project begins with The Renewed Collection, featuring one-of-a-kind cases restored by hand at the brand’s Hertfordshire, UK workshop, according to Globe-Trotter.
Restoration is handled carefully, without trying to hide every sign of age or use. Worn corners, softened leather and old travel labels can remain, keeping part of the case’s history intact.
Every piece is selected individually and restored using traditional techniques and original materials. Interiors are refreshed with specially chosen linings, while travel-inspired decals and signature key charms add new details.
A numbered plaque is fitted inside each suitcase to record its place in the collection. Since every case arrives with its own signs of wear, no two restored pieces will look exactly alike.
Globe-Trotter’s vulcanised fibreboard remains an important part of the design. The lightweight but durable material has been used by the company since it was founded in 1897 and is designed to develop more character with age.
Available pieces range from carry-ons and medium check-in cases to larger suitcases suited to longer journeys. Restored examples may also have different leather trims, hardware finishes and interior patterns depending on the original case.
The programme builds on Globe-Trotter’s reputation for luggage designed to last for decades. It also gives buyers another option beyond purchasing a newly made suitcase while keeping the brand’s traditional materials and construction methods.
The Renewed Collection will be released exclusively through Globe-Trotter’s website in limited drops. Since each restored case exists only once, the sizes, colours and finishes available will change with every release.
Anyone interested in a particular case will need to keep an eye on the collection as new pieces arrive. Once one is purchased, there will not be another restored suitcase with exactly the same history or finish.
