Gentle Monster has revealed the second frame from its upcoming intelligent eyewear collection with Google and Samsung. The new design has a clean rectangular shape and will join the first frame shown at Google I/O earlier this year.
The latest version looks closer to a regular pair of designer glasses than an obvious tech product. Its black frame keeps the camera, speakers and microphones relatively discreet, allowing the hardware to blend into the overall design.
Samsung says the glasses have been made for everyday wear, with a lightweight frame and slim profile. A built-in camera gives Gemini visual context, while microphones and speakers let users interact with the assistant through voice commands.
Gemini can provide directions, send messages and answer questions about what the wearer is looking at. The glasses can also handle calls, music, hands-free photos and real-time translation without requiring users to take out their phones.
They are designed to work with both Android and iOS devices through a companion app. Compatible phones will include Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models, along with Apple iPhones.
Battery life is expected to reach up to nine hours on a single charge. Samsung says the charging case can then provide at least seven additional full charges, which should make the glasses easier to use throughout the day.
Gentle Monster introduced the frame through a fashion campaign photographed by Éamonn Zeel Freel. Models Anok Yai and Alex Consani appear in the images, keeping the focus on how the glasses look when worn instead of the technology built into them.
The full intelligent eyewear collection is due to launch this fall, with more designs expected beyond the two already shown. If the finished product matches these early previews, Gentle Monster may help Samsung and Google make smart glasses feel more like an everyday fashion choice.
