Jaguar’s Type 01 is no longer just about its dramatic exterior, as we’ve now been given our first proper look inside the upcoming electric GT.
A central spine runs the full length of the cabin, dividing it into four individual spaces. Jaguar says the driver also sits low in the car, giving Type 01 the kind of seating position you would expect from a traditional grand tourer.
Much of the interior takes inspiration from travertine stone and artisan textiles, with a mostly tonal colour palette broken up by brass-inspired finishes. That material runs along the central spine and the tops of the doors, where Jaguar’s leaper emblem also appears.
Technology has been worked into the interior without completely taking over the dashboard. A slim infotainment setup provides digital controls when they are needed, while several other features remain hidden until they are in use. Concealed compartments also help keep the cabin looking clean and uncluttered.
Another unusual detail is the ClearSight Rear View Display, which sits centrally at the base of the windshield. Jaguar has positioned it at roughly the same height as the door mirrors, helping keep the driver’s attention closer to the road while checking what is behind the car.
Type 01 also represents an important step in Jaguar’s move towards its next generation of electric cars. It will be the first production model built on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture, or JEA, as well as the first to follow the brand’s new design philosophy.
Its name reflects that new direction too, with the “0” representing zero tailpipe emissions and the “1” marking the first model of this new generation.
Before the complete car is shown, a Type 01 prototype will make its North American debut during Monterey Car Week wearing a new wrap. It will then appear at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 16.
We still have more to learn about the car itself, with Jaguar saving the complete reveal for New York on October 6, 2026. That should give us a much better idea of what its next-generation electric luxury GT will actually bring to the road.
