Norqain has given its Independence Skeleton a darker, and yet, lighter makeover, combining an open-worked dial with a blacked-out titanium case and warm red-gold accents.

The new Independence Skeleton Titanium DLC uses Grade 5 titanium covered in a black diamond-like carbon coating (via Monochrome). It marks a material change from the regular 42mm Independence Skeleton, which is currently offered by Norqain in stainless steel.

The case measures 42mm wide and 11.8mm thick, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 48.75mm. Sapphire crystals protect both the front and back, while a screw-down crown and 100 metres of water resistance give it enough durability for everyday wear.

Visually, the openworked display is where the watch really comes to life. Its black skeletonised structure leaves much of the movement exposed, with faceted red gold-plated hour markers and matching hands adding warmth against the darker finish. White X1 Super-LumiNova keeps the key details legible in low light, and a small red tip on the seconds hand adds one final touch of colour.

Inside is Norqain’s NB08S automatic movement, based on the Sellita SW200-1S. It is COSC-certified, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a 41-hour power reserve. Norqain has used the same movement family in other Independence Skeleton models, where the angular construction is designed to remain visible from both sides of the case.

The watch comes on a black rubber strap, with buyers able to choose between a black DLC-coated titanium pin buckle or folding clasp.

Pricing starts at €4,850 (approx. $5,700) with the pin buckle, rising to €5,180 (approx. $6,050) for the folding-clasp version. For anyone who likes openworked watches with a darker edge, this new Norqain offers a more subtle take on the style.
