Ford could be preparing to turn the Bronco into a pickup truck, setting up a new off-road rival for the Jeep Gladiator around the end of the decade.

A Bronco-based pickup is planned for around 2030 as Ford looks to expand the nameplate beyond its current SUVs (via Automotive News). However, Ford has not announced the truck itself, so the timing and details remain unofficial.

Production is expected to take place at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, where the current two- and four-door Bronco is built. The Ranger, which also comes from the factory, is reportedly due to move to Ford’s Tennessee Truck Plant around 2029.

Details about the pickup itself are still thin on the ground, with its engines, dimensions and design all unknown. A close relationship with the next-generation Bronco seems likely, especially if Ford plans to build the two alongside each other.

Before any pickup arrives, the Bronco is also expected to gain an electrified option. Ford CEO Jim Farley confirmed earlier this year that a hybrid version is planned as part of the company’s wider push to add electrified powertrains across its range. That model is expected to arrive in 2027, potentially for the 2028 model year, but Ford has not confirmed a launch date.

Recent sales also give Ford a good reason to keep expanding the Bronco family. The company sold 146,007 examples in the US during 2025, up nearly 34% and enough to set a new annual record for the model.

This would not be Ford’s first time exploring a Bronco pickup, since an earlier project was reportedly considered during the current SUV’s development before being cancelled several years ago.

If the latest plan does reach production, the Bronco pickup could finally give the Gladiator the Ford-badged off-road rival that has been talked about for years.
