Brew Watches has never been shy about its love of coffee. In fact, its latest Retrograph takes that inspiration in a more literal direction, with a dial made to resemble milk swirling through cold brew.
The Retrograph Stone Blend uses genuine pietersite for its dial, with the natural stone creating a different mix of colours and patterns on every watch. Brew is making just 250 examples, each priced at $775 in the US.
Pietersite is really the centrepiece here, as its mix of darker and lighter tones gives the dial the kind of movement Brew wanted to capture from a glass of cold brew. Because the stone naturally varies from one piece to another, no two dials should look exactly alike.
Around it sits a gold PVD-coated 316L stainless steel case measuring 38mm wide and 10.4mm thick. A brown pebble-grain leather strap carries on the warm colour scheme, with sapphire crystal used for both the front and the exhibition caseback.
There is another coffee reference around the back, where three beans are engraved into the movement’s rotor. The custom half-moon case back leaves some of the automatic movement visible, adding a more mechanical touch to the otherwise coffee-inspired design.
Power comes from a Miyota 9015 automatic movement, which winds itself through the natural motion of the wearer’s wrist. Water resistance is rated at 5ATM, or 50 metres, and the leather strap uses quick-release fittings for easier changes.
Brew currently lists the Stone Blend as in stock, with worldwide shipping and a two-year warranty included. Given the run is limited to only 250 pieces, though, it is unlikely to be a permanent addition to the Retrograph range.
Coffee has shaped Brew’s watches for years, but using natural stone to recreate the look of milk moving through cold brew gives the idea a much more unusual twist this time.
