Seiko is marking its 145th anniversary with six limited-edition watches, all linked by a rich purple colour inspired by Tokyo’s history.
The collection takes its colour from “Edo purple”, a traditional shade associated with the city during the Edo period. Gold-coloured details appear throughout the range, which includes models from Prospex, Astron, Presage, Seiko 5 Sports and Seiko Selection.
The celebration begins with two Prospex watches. The Alpinist Mechanical combines purple details with matching stitching on its leather strap, while the Speedtimer Solar Chronograph brings the colour to its dial and tachymeter bezel. They cost $900 and $750 respectively, with production limited to 7,000 Alpinists and 8,000 Speedtimers.
The Astron is the most expensive model in the collection at $2,900. Its purple gradient dial is designed to resemble the sky at dusk, paired with GPS-controlled time adjustment and solar charging. Production is limited to 2,000 pieces.
Presage takes a different approach with a Cocktail Time inspired by an “Edo Murasaki” cocktail created by Japanese bartender Hisashi Kishi. The deep purple dial is finished with gold details on the logo and GMT hand, and the $625 watch is limited to 6,000 pieces.
A Seiko 5 Sports SKX follows at $450, pairing a deep purple dial with gold-coloured accents and a glossy Hardlex bezel. It has the largest production run of the collection, with 9,999 examples planned.
Rounding out the range is a $585 digital Seiko Selection inspired by the 1982 model known among enthusiasts as the Rotocall. Its mostly black finish is broken up by a purple rotary switch and gold-coloured markings. Seiko plans to produce 4,000 units.
All six watches carry “LIMITED EDITION” on their case backs and will go on sale from October 2026. They will be available through Seiko Boutiques and selected retailers worldwide.
