Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing has earned a major drinks-world accolade, with its bar TIAO named among Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026. The recognition was announced during the awards ceremony in Macau on 28 July, placing TIAO among the region’s leading cocktail destinations just two years after it opened.
Set inside Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, the bar has quickly become one of the city’s most talked-about drinking spots. Its concept brings together contemporary mixology with the history and atmosphere of Beijing’s traditional hutong neighbourhoods.
TIAO is tucked into the historic northeast corner of the hotel, inside a restored two-floor space inspired by the communal feeling of the Caochang hutongs. That sense of place is central to the bar’s identity, with drinks designed to reflect Beijing’s culture, stories and local flavours.
Led by Bar and Beverage Manager Miranda Xu and Head Bartender Matt Guo, the team uses ingredients such as tea-infused spirits and subtle regional flavours to create cocktails that feel connected to the city. The bar also serves Beijing-inspired food, giving guests another way to explore the capital’s heritage through a more modern hospitality lens.
The hotel describes TIAO as a cultural bridge, bringing the rhythm of the hutongs into the wider global cocktail scene. Its debut on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026 suggests that approach is resonating beyond Beijing.
To mark the award, TIAO will host a summer celebration party on 29 August. Five of Asia’s top bartenders will take over the bar for one night, creating a special menu of cocktails for guests.
Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing is already one of the city’s most distinctive luxury hotels, with just 42 courtyard houses set within the Beijing Central Axis. With TIAO now recognised on one of Asia’s most influential bar lists, the hotel has another reason for cocktail fans to visit.
