Yeti has listed a new Stainless Steel Grill Press, and it looks like another sign that the cooler brand wants a bigger place in outdoor cooking. According to Yeti, the press is currently marked as coming soon and will cost $75.
The price is high for something many backyard cooks might normally overlook, but the construction helps explain it. Yeti has made the press entirely from 304 stainless steel, giving it a rust-resistant finish that does not need the same upkeep as cast iron.
It is also dishwasher safe, so there is no seasoning or careful drying routine to deal with after cooking. That makes it easier to maintain, especially for anyone who regularly uses it around oil, grease and high heat.
The press works by holding food firmly against the cooking surface, helping it brown more evenly. Yeti suggests using it for bacon, smash burgers, uneven cuts of meat and spatchcocked chicken.
It can be used with Yeti carbon steel or cast iron cookware measuring 12 inches or larger, as well as the brand’s Carbon Steel Griddle. It is also designed to sit directly on a grill, making it useful across both indoor and outdoor setups.
At 2.75lb, the press has enough weight to flatten food without becoming as bulky as some cast iron alternatives. Its stainless steel body is built to handle drops, high heat and regular use, although Yeti recommends wearing an oven mitt because the handle can become hot.
The release also shows how far Yeti has moved beyond coolers and drinkware. Carbon steel pans, cast iron skillets and grilling equipment now form a much larger part of its range, with this press filling another small gap in the setup.
A $75 grill press will not suit every cook, especially when cheaper versions are easy to find. But for anyone already building a Yeti outdoor kitchen, it is a durable and low-maintenance addition that should earn its place beside the grill.
