Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita has announced a festive programme inspired by the island’s traditions and natural landscape. According to Four Seasons, the event is called Season of Lights and Roots and will bring Mauritian food, music and wellness experiences to the resort throughout the holidays
The theme takes inspiration from the ancient banyan trees found across the property and the traditions passed between generations. Guests will be encouraged to experience more of the island through activities that go beyond the usual Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Traditional regattas will bring colourful sailboats onto the lagoon during the festive programme. In the evenings, guests can watch Creole entertainment and Sega performances.
Local craftsmanship will be highlighted through demonstrations of vacoas leaf weaving — one of the island’s long-standing artisanal traditions. Curated tastings at the resort’s Rhum Library will explore Mauritius’ rum heritage and its connection to sugarcane.
Younger visitors will have a separate programme through Kids For All Seasons and the Teens Club. Activities will include beach campfires, pizza-making workshops and Sega dance sessions, along with kayak races and nature-based outings.
Food will draw on the multicultural influences behind Mauritian cooking. Local chefs will lead festive menus inspired by Creole flavours and well-known island dishes.
Chaloupe will host the main Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve celebrations beside the lagoon. Both evenings will combine locally inspired food with live music and illuminated surroundings.
Wellness treatments will also reflect the island’s traditions. Oseyan Spa’s Coconut and Aloe Island Ritual uses ingredients picked from its garden, including fresh aloe and coconuts.
Away from the spa, guests can join guided hikes through tropical forests to waterfalls or take part in interactive beekeeping experiences. These activities offer another way to explore the island during a stay.
