Grand Seiko has given its Evolution 9 collection a major update, adding nine new watches across two of its most important movements. The official release expands the E9 lineup with five Spring Drive U.F.A. models and four Hi-Beat 36000 models. That is a pretty big drop for Grand Seiko, especially for a collection built around daily-wearing, do-it-all watches.
At the centre of the update is the Spring Drive U.F.A. movement. First introduced in 2025, it offers accuracy of plus or minus 20 seconds per year, making it one of the most accurate mainspring-powered watch movements on the market.
The five new Spring Drive U.F.A. models use the Caliber 9RB2, which adds a date complication. The lineup includes 40mm versions of White Birch, Atera Valley, and Lake Suwa dials, with Lake Suwa offered in both blue and black. There is also a 37mm version of the Lake Suwa Blue.
The other four new references use Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9SA5 Hi-Beat automatic movement. This movement has the brand’s Dual Impulse Escapement and a twin-barrel system, giving it an 80-hour power reserve despite beating at 5Hz.
Grand Seiko has also changed up the materials across the new lineup. Seven of the nine watches use Ever-Brilliant Steel, which the brand says has extremely high corrosion resistance, while the other two models use High-Intensity Titanium.
For everyday wear, the bracelet may be the most important update. All nine new E9 watches now come with an on-the-fly micro-adjustable clasp, a feature Grand Seiko fans have wanted for years. The new three-link bracelet also has a sharper taper, dropping from 22mm to 18mm.
The Five Spring Drive U.F.A. models will arrive in September 2026, while the four Hi-Beat 36000 models will follow in October. Prices start at $10,200 for Ever-Brilliant Steel models and rise to $11,400 for High-Intensity Titanium.
